Standard Black LA NY

Willy Chavarria and Standard Black teamed up to bring the designer’s forthright, graphic collection to life by staging a fashion show that matched Chavarria’s provocative sensibility with our directional, outside-the-box approach to event design, video direction, and production.

Titled “Cruising,” Chavarria’s collection played on two major themes: lowrider culture and the grit and sensuality of New York City in the 1970s.

We devised an ambitious and unique angle to exhibit the collection, staging a runway presentation inside New York City’s infamous leather bar, The Eagle. Standard Black created atmospheric visuals to complement the aggressive vision for the collection, and developed video content that served to heighten awareness for the designer.

A highlight of NYFW, “Cruising” was widely considered one of the most intriguing fashion events in recent NYC history, and garnered increased attention for the designer. The collection was heralded in Vogue, WWD, and many other publications.
